Literature Text

Imagine, my dear,
Imagine we are not as close as we are now
That your fingers,
Are not laced in mine,
That the rhythm,
of your pulse,
Cannot be felt,
And our eyes, my love,
Cannot see the other.

Imagine, my sweet,
Imagine that we are but placed far apart,
That your life,
Does not touch mine,
That the lilting,
of your voice,
Cannot be heard,
And our minds, my darling,
Know not of the other.

I remember those times,
I remember that life.
I remember the longing,
wishing,
dreaming,
hoping,
that you would find me,
Even though I didn't know who You were.

An empty space,
So large,
It could not be measured
Until you filled it with your love.

Our love.

Imagine not, dear one.
Imagine not.
We are here.
What's it about?
Being thankful & appreciative for the sheer felicity that allowed me & my love to be together. I remember what life was like before he came along. Never a day goes by where we don't say, 'I love you' & mean it.

Please consider in critique - are there any improvements that could be made to make this piece more unique? I feel although the words very much do come from the heart & are relevant to me personally, I'm left wondering if I'm simply covering ground that all love poems do.

I've decided to also submit this to the Letters To Loved Ones Contest - it doesn't matter if it wins or not. I'm already a winner.

I can completely understand where your coming from. I'm in the same situation and feel the exact same way =) I'm no expert on poetry, but it flows very nicely and certainly comes from the heart!
